Flash lessons

For three weeks we had lessons on Adobe flash, the result of these lessons are that I now know many different techniques and I now have a lot more knowledge and experience when using flash.

The basic techniques like scale, rotation etc. these are the things that we focused on and developed little pieces of work, just experiments.

Initial Ideas Research

Secret Gigs
So it has been done before but hopefully the all star cast is something that will allow this to take off and be something that will be different from other secret gigs, the reason why I thought of this is because on the 7th of June 2010 I went to one myself, it was Bon Jovi on top of the o2 and I was told about it like 2 hours before it happened and the adrenaline, excitment etc is something that I wanted to share with people using this idea.

Guys and Girls dance off
After some research on this i've discovered a few videos of flash mob dance offs around the world, although I haven't found a guys vs girls one I have to say the general idea of having a flash mob dance off has been done before and isn't really original so I think I will leave this idea here and pursue other options.

Zombie Takeover in central London
Once again after a little more research i've discovered that this event has been done before and isn't original, i'm starting to realise how hard it is to think of a 100% original event that hasn't been done before that would draw in a crowd and get people involved on a whim. One of the zombie flash mobs that I came across during my research was done on the 5th of April 2008 through the city of Perth, the whole point of this flash mob was to shock and make people freak out when they saw the zombie army, I will post the link bellow.

Free Hugs
This idea has also been done, on the 24th July 2010 the world record was set for the largest free hug flash mob, it was done in Santa Monica and involved everyone that was a part of it wearing blue t-shirts with the writing "Free Hugs" on them, even though it's not original and has been done before quiet a few times I still think that if I done something more to this idea to make it original it could work, because after reading how these free hug flash mobs had a good time and brought people from all over the world together, it sounds like something i'd like to try.

Cosplay take over
This idea would have to be advertised on anime websites and other various places that anime lovers go for example chuckadero in central London, this idea has been done before but maybe if it was brought together with something else like the free hugs idea possibly it would be something original and could possibly work. The general theme that I am leaning towards is doing something that makes people feel good, something where people will enjoy themselves etc.
I will possibly look into this idea further, like the free hugs idea after i've thought a little more about how to make these ideas original I might develop them further in this project.

Massive Conga Line
This idea has been done before but not on a big scale, the idea of my conga line flash mob is to do it in Central London where it is highly likely people will join in even if only for a couple of seconds, possibly have everyone in the conga line singing aswell to get it going more. This idea is something that i definately want to look at in more detail and take further in this project possibly, for now i'll leave the link to the conga line flash mob that was done in Freeport Maine on the 13th of March 2010.

Call Of Duty Water fight
Finally!!! this idea hasn't been done before from what I have gathered from my research, although there has been water fight flash mobs, there hasn't been any Call Of Duty Water Fight flash mobs. This idea is good because if everyone is dressed as a character from the whole call of duty franchise, then they will be wearing quiet a few layers of clothes meaning that getting water all over yourself, even in winter wouldn't be too bad since everyone will be hot. The location hasn't been decided but I was thinking of doing it somewhere with alot of like obsticles to get around and things to hide behind and take cover etc, this idea has so much potential, using the rules of the game, if you get sprayed then you have to wait a certain amount of time before you can "respawn" and join in the fun again, also there could be a number of different games played, free-for-all, team deathmatch, capture the flag etc.

Possible Events

After looking around on the internet looking for inspiration for possible events that I could do for this project i've come across theses ideas that I think would be good to do.
  • Secret Gig, with a twist, all star cast, sort of like a dream band, say Travis Barker from Blink 182, Slash formerly from Guns N Roses etc.
  • Guys vs Girls danceoff in Central London possibly
  • Zombie take over of Central London like 28 days later
  • Free hugs flash mobs, offer random people hugs
  • Cosplay take over of Central London
  • Massive conga line for 5 mins
  • Call of Duty water fight

flash mob

A flash mob is a large group of people who assemble suddenly in a public place, perform an unusual and pointless act for a brief time, then disperse. The term flash mob is generally applied only to gatherings organized via telecommunications, social media, or viral emails. The term is generally not applied to events organized by public relations firms, protests, and publicity stunts.

A secret gig is a secret show that is kept quiet and only sort of advertised by word of mouth only, text messages etc. they are only known about very close to when they are scheduled to happen.

An art sale is the practice of selling objects of art work, in most cases at auctions.
In England this dates from the latter part of the 17th century, when in most cases the names of the auctioneers were suppressed. Evelyn (under date June 21, 1693) mentions a "great auction of pictures (Lord Melford's) in the Banquetting House, Whitehall," and the practice is frequently referred to by other contemporary and later writers.
